Christmas in Suffolk
Following much anxiety, watching of weather forecasts and keeping what ever extremities could be crossed, crossed, we set off for Suffolk. We soon left a very icy Hillside road behind us and with the car stuffed full of presents, wine and far too much food were well on our way to a wonderful Christmas.
We were staying in Orford at Burnt Cottage and all of us (Anne, Joyce, Ian & I) we in a state of high excitement & trepidation. No worries as the cottage was great, soon warmed up when we found the thermostat and got the great log burner going. We had a nice lunch out on Christmas eve. Spent Christmas morning opening our prezzies, drinking champers and generally having a great time. A cough and cold did hamper Ian's & mine celebrations slightly but in hindsight only curtailed drinking & eating which is no bad thing.
Joyce, Ian & I completed a great walk on boxing day at Minsmere. This is despite Ian & I getting us lost again! And me having a raging fire burning in my lungs, I was very glad to see the car at the end of the walk! We all had a really great time & would recommend you finding your own place to go next Chritsmas as this one is taken. Only Joking but we are on the search for Christmas 2011 already.
NB We might not take so much food with us next year, I am sure it enjoyed the journey & change of fridge though!!
Here's the pictures
Waxwings At Last
Mr F & I finally got our first sighting of a Waxing or should I say an ever increasing flock of Waxings. Up to 200 possibly more. However this was not without cost as we got caught up in a heavy snowstorm. I was very very afraid, of damaging the BMW !!!! and or ourselves. If Ian had not been at my side pushing me to continue driving at a much higher speed than I thought safe it would have been a different story altogether. We got home safe after 6 hours but if I had been on my own I fear a dented car, a demented woman and a night on the hard shoulder of the motorway.
Here is a view of the snow before it became really bad & then dark. It was -2.5 whist we were driving. Also the aforementioned & much prized Waxwings.
