Last day of lockdown?

CV 19 weekend of 30th and 31st May 2020.

As usual there was not a great deal happening in the Floody household over the weekend. Saturday we had a walk into Marlow and popped into Sainsburys to pick up a few things. The town was reasonably quiet as it was relatively early. The narrow pavements in Spittal street make for very poor social distancing especially as some people feel they have the right of way. It’s going to be nigh on impossible even with the proposed one way system.
The weather continues to be fabulous and it is just like being on holiday. You wake up every morning knowing that’s its going to be a nice day, we have almost stopped looking at the weather forecast, if we do look its to see what the temperature is going to be so we can gage if its walking weather.
Some National Trust places are opening up but you have to pre book and there are limited numbers allowed, we don’t really fancy that. I am hoping some RSPB places will open up soon.
The Stay Inn opened on Saturday afternoon, all the beer gardens were open, it was slightly windy in Marlow and very hot with a temperature reading of 26 in the shade. A good time was had by all, with perhaps the exception of Jon who was alcohol; free as he was having to work Saturday night launching a new website. He worked from 10pm to 5.45am on Sunday and then started again at 9am.
The age concern garden is suffering with all this dry weather, and someone keeps turning the watering system off. I met up with Ian (not mine) who is clearing the weeds from the front so its is ready for some membrane to go down and then some cobbles. We had a good chat & he pointed out that there was a Robins nest out the back, however there was also a cat that had its beady eyes on it. The Robin sat up in a cherry tree and serenaded me whilst I tied to revive the arid ground.
We had a face time chat with Joyce who is managing to get out a bit now and met up with a friend for a good walk overlooking the Tyne Valley. However the call had to be cut short as at 3pm on a Sunday someone started to saw down a massive tree, the boy next door was revving his car on the drive and the neighbours opposite got out a garden blower to sweep the drive. I know its lockdown but its still Sunday and should be quiet and peaceful. We could not hear ourselves think let alone enjoy the remnants of yesterday’s sangria. The car next door apparently is so special the engine has to be revved loudly for 10 minutes before you are able to drive it. It has one of those large exhausts that looks like the surprised expression on someone’s face that has had something unexpectedly shoved up their backside. Now there’s a thought!

Saturday night dinner was Fish curry, veg masala, dhal, Bombay potato and naan bread. Mr. F made the fish curry it was delicious.

Sunday we had Sirloin steak cooked on the BBQ with slaw and green salad. The steak was delicious and very tender.

Ian has also made another sponge cake, we haven't indulged in  it yet but it looks perfect.

My weight is creeping up; I need to get a handle on this before it gets out of control. However living the good life is so nice at the moment.

Mr. F has been better tempered this weekend, not sure what is happening with the NUFC take over it has become a sore point and is not mentioned much. It has had a detrimental effect on Ian’s mood and our relationship of late. Hopefully today or sometime this week it will be done & dusted.

The traffic increases greatly at weekends in Marlow, I had to wait a considerable amount of time to get across the main road early on Sunday morning. It made me realise just how much we had all obeyed the Stay at home rule, it was quite considerable feat.

Other points.

The 2.5 million that have been shielding have been informed that they can now go out. Err right along with all the hoards of people that are going to flood the streets from Monday.
We are still waiting to hear what is happening with our Portugal trip in a months time. There is no news from the Government on being able to go on holiday, but there are rumblings of setting up reciprocal air bridges. Which basically means no quarantining either side.
Our Sky sports subscription is still suspended although sport is starting to open up.
The Queen has been pictured riding outside; this is the 1st time since lockdown. However there was an article the other morning to say she rides everyday.
The beaches were packed at the weekend, a idiots were hurling themselves off a 200ft cliff at Durdle Door causing air ambulances to come out to them when they very surprisingly got injured.
South Africa have reversed the decision to reopen schools.
Hairdressers in India have reopened but they have to wear PPE full body suits.
