Sea Bass for dinner

CV19 The daily record 1St May 2020

Day 39 of lockdown.

Sorry about the late posting yesterday but I was late getting up as we had a disturbed night. At 2.30 am the cat decided to be sick all over our new(ish) landing carpet, so we were up trying to clean it and then couldn’t get back to sleep. As the day progressed things kept happening to delay the posting. Alas not anything very interesting to report.
After another bout of cleaning the carpet, I ventured out to the post office and corner shop. Hurrah the corner shop had SR flour, which I promptly purchased for my friend who cannot go to a shop for health reasons. Ian nipped back down and got some for us.
After a brief roundabout walk to get home, I went and dropped off the flour, it was nice to have a little run out in the car. Weather is very showery and quite windy. It’s nice and warm when the sun shines through.
Ian prepped the dinner and pottered around a bit. Mike from Complete Aquatics came and cleaned out the pond. Ian was glad of a bit of male company for a face-to-face safe distance chat. Mike says that all the garden centres are gearing up for opening in the very near future. He has to go to them to get his pond stuff and says they are all working behind the scenes.
We had a facetime chat with Liz and Ray who were having massive thunderstorms, nothing like that here. Then it was time for the daily briefing. Well that day went quick!
Ian chatted to a previous work colleague, which was nice for him and a change of conversation too.

Dinner tonight was another stunning meal.

Fresh sea bass (from fish man on weds) Broad beans with chorizo, French beans and New Jersey royals and as it was Friday some Muscadet.

Mr F got 30 on Pop master this morning. Would have been 36 but just missed out on Chesney Hawkes.

Other News.

There is much speculation of what will happen next week when easing of lockdown is expected.
Chris Witty says that until we get a vaccine life will not return to normal.
UK covid fatality count is now 27,510
Germany, who has eased lockdown, reports a rise in cases of infection for the 5th day in a row.
Massive testing and contact tracking to be rolled out, this is key to controlling disease.
Kim Jong Un is seen in public, so he’s not dead then!
Wizz air has made flights to Hungary, Romania, Portugal and Spain. Compulsory facemasks, no inflight magazines and a new safety video are in place.
Over 122,000 tests were completed by the end of April but there is speculation as to the method of counting them, However you look at it this was still a massive achievement. I am surprised though how Matt Hancock can still stand up with all those knives the press have in his back.
