Something fishy going on.

CV19 The daily record. May 6th 2020.

Lockdown day 44.

We take advantage of another sunny start to the day and walk down into the town. The main purpose of this is to visit the fish man and veg stall. Fish shopping done, alas no Mackerel, the plans for red pepper and pinenut stuffed Mackerel are shelved and we avoid the veg stall as too many people queuing there. A quick saunter down the high street a stop off at the chemist to buy a finger splint then Ian spies one of his walking friends out on her bike and they stop for a chat. We walk around the church looking for the Peregrine but there is no sight of it today. I don’t know if there is anyone looking out to see if they have laid eggs, they haven’t reported it but theses things are kept deadly secret as eggs hunters will come and steal them. There are no nest cams or anything there so no security. Wandering around the church is so lovely, in places wildflowers have been allowed to grow and paths are mown through for access, but the rest is carefully left for nature. The wild flowers are lovely and a scent warmed by the morning sun fills the air. It is so very peaceful and calming, no noise no pollution and no people. Just a point about the noise, we live about a mile, probably a bit less as the crow flies, from the church. The other night it was so quiet we could hear the clock striking the hour. We have heard the bells on a Sunday before but never the hour striking.
Ian has discovered a bench and a monument with a quote from TS Eliot, in all the years we have lived here we did not know this existed.
On our way home we stop at the veg man and bump into Coleen and Pauric again. This is turning into a Wednesday meeting, without the coffee! Alas the veg man has run out of asparagus boo.
The afternoon is spent reading, doing puzzles and enjoying the sunshine.
The Blue Tits are increasing feeding now; the little babies are starting to show signs of feathers growing as they have very funny fluffy tufts on their heads.
The amount of aircraft overhead is increasing as plane after plane flies in. My flight tracker wont work so I can’t see where they have come from, will sort that out later and report back.

Ian is feeling better each day but still not 100%.

Steak, Jacket potato, peas and mushrooms for dinner. Followed by fresh pineapple.

Other points of note.

The findings of studies are now being published. The Covid health reporting that Ian & I do each day is changing its name to avoid confusion with the Test track trace study.
This study was the one that found that loss of smell was a major symptom of the disease. They are now changing questions, as they need to find out why this is affecting men more than women, they also think that Oestrogen may be a contributing factor.
A report on the BBC shows that in the UK only 300 under 45 have succumbed to the disease, 3000 in the 45 – 64 age group and over 24,000 in the 65 plus age group. That is a frightening statistic as we are very close to that latter group.
This pandemic has for us underlined the need to stay fit and healthy, eat a healthy diet and keep to a good BMI. I have added a few pounds during lockdown and am now determined to shed them quickly.

Boris and Kier Starmer had their first encounter at prime Ministers questions.

The PPE that came from Turkey is reported to be unfit for use and remains in a warehouse.
