Covid 19 The daily record April 7th 2020.
This morning we plan to go for a walk but are expecting a delivery so we need to wait in, the walk is postponed until this afternoon.
Ian re-polishes the windows as when the sun shines on them it shows all the streaks left from the window cleaning other day. He gets rather frustrated with it, window cleaning is a terrible job one that I am useless at. He is doing a better job of it, despite it making him grumpy.
In the afternoon we decide to do the Flackwell Heath walk. It is a lovely sunny day, quite warm, even hot you might say. There is a warm southerly breeze with just a few clouds in the blue sky. After walking down the hill serenaded by the Skylarks, there must be a lot here as their song fills the air this afternoon. We come into little Marlow and find that the footpath is closed so have to take an alternative route. Ian has done it before but is unsure of the way, this worries me, as I do not want to get lost or end up walking in circles.
Not to worry, we hike up this long and steep hill, good lung exercise, and I am soon blowing as we near the top. There are a lot more walkers around at this time of day, quite a few cars on the road too. (we only drove 3 miles so its allowed).
Walking on we enter a wood which is really beautiful the sunlight shining down through the tree trunks, we both say we could be in the New Forest. It is peaceful with just the sound of the birds
Strolling along I take my eye off the ball, or rather the ground and miss or rather hit a large flint sticking up. Yes here I go, face down. No harm done just a little bruised but I did hit my cheekbone on the ground and it’s smarting a bit. Every time I think I am doing really well with my walking, I trip up. I am not impressed with myself, Ian says not too worry about it but I do.
We carry on through the woods and down into a valley up the other side and magically appear by the Crooked Billet. I know where I am now. Shame the pub is closed, it’s a lovely building and looks pretty festooned with colourful plants. Carrying on past we walk up Sheepridge lane and cross it near the top. Up another steep hill, the lungs and calf muscles are getting a good work out this afternoon; and we are back by the allotments.
A good walk and a lovely afternoon we covered about 5 miles.
A well needed long cool drink when we got back home and a little read in the sunshine before, the daily briefing.
Roast Chicken, salad and jacket potato for dinner.
Our flowering Cherry is at its best, full of blossom.
News update.
Boris is still in ICU but not ventilated.
Most of the questions by the media are related to who will run the country if Boris is unable to. Ian gets cross. They also keep asking the same questions everyday, to which they know the answer is the same too.
The infection rate in the UK is still falling but the rate of deaths increases. It is now over 6100 .
1500 died in the US yesterday.
There are reports on the TV from inside intensive care; it makes very grim and frightening viewing.
We all received our letters from Boris yesterday. It did not tell us anything that we did not already know, but hopefully some people who don’t listen to the news or media will benefit from it.
Wuhan has been unlocked and thousands of people flock in the streets and parks. Looks like life has returned to normal there. Lets sincerely hope so. Personally I don’t believe it.
