CV19 Saturday & Sunday 11th & 12th April 2020.
Easter weekend. Again not a great deal going on here. The weather is glorious, hot and sunny not typical bank holiday weather at all.
Unfortunately neighbours on one side are loudly mending cars and on the other side they have to my absolute delight purchased a drone. This is flown up and down the garden like a massive angry wasp; it also makes as much noise as 20 massive angry wasps. It strays into our garden from time to time; I hate the damn things and think they should be banned. The good thing is the battery does not last very long
That’s today’s rant out of the way.
Saturday I was again cooking and spent the morning marinating pork steaks with star anise, making an Asian slaw and dipping sauces. Dinner was a big success. However the scones I made were not so successful, the mix was a tad wet so they did not rise as much as I would have like. However they tasted lovely.
Prior to dinner the “Stay Inn” was opened and we spent a few hours catching up with friends in the sunshine.
Pater Kay was on the TV Friday Night and several people spied us amongst the audience that was filmed a few years ago now at the O2. It was a very funny evening, didn’t catch it on Friday though.
Easter Sunday morning I took advantage of it being very quiet and went to inspect my garden down at Marlow Age concern. It was full of colour and hardly any weeds. However I needed to do a bit of deadheading and general tidying up. I love it down there, it is a little haven away from everything and I totally loose myself. The gardening is easy and it is a perfect suntrap. However someone has pruned all the shrubs out the front and filled up the garden waste bin, so no room for anything else, also I think they have weeded the bed where I have sown wild flower Bee Bombs. Hey Ho. I give it all a good soaking and set up the automatic watering system before heading home again.
My seeds at home are all starting to sprout and the Lilies are growing at an alarming rate about an inch a day.
Sunday’s dinner was roast beef, roast potatoes, carrots & green beans accompanied by Yorkshire puddings, which actually rose. Which just goes to prove it was our old oven that was the problem. We had some Nero d’Avola wine, which was really nice.
There have been wild shenanigans going on in our garden where a couple we blatantly bathing together out in the open. We got a photograph of the culprits.

Easter Monday we have woken up to find an egg in the nest. One of many I hope.
UK and World news.
10612 in the UK have died from the Virus. This does not include cares homes or people that have died at home.
The rates of infection and deaths still remain high but are possible levelling off.
It will be 2 weeks before they start to come down; this is a direct result of staying at home and the 2-week lag in infection and hospitalisation.
Boris is out of hospital and recuperating at Chequers. He still looks poorly.
Stirling Moss died, not virus related. He was 90.
Spain is coming out of lockdown despite a surge in the death toll this weekend. They are told they have to wear facemasks when going outside. Non-essential workers can go back to work. Italy is allowing, bookshops children’s clothes shops and stationery shops to reopen. Denmark is allowing schools and day-care centres to reopen on Wednesday.
China was locked down for 76 days, but there are reports that infections are increasing again now lockdown has been relaxed, they say these are imported cases from people entering from Russia.
