Nest Building continues

Covid 19 The daily record March 31st 2020.

Well the good news is that the Blue Tit nest building has brought great excitement to the Floody household and also many viewers on Instagram and FB. This morning beaks full of moss are being brought into the nest and squished into position by fluttering and wiggling around. There is still no base to the nest as yet. Early morning tea is now taken while watching the birds, a great start to our day. Today it is sunny but there has been a frost and even the lawn is white.

Yesterday morning the jet washing was completed and then the horrid task of cleaning up. Washing all my garden pots down, windows and anything else that had got splashed. I am quite pleased that I did not make too much mess this year. It’s a job I hate as we have a lot of block paving. I am now extremely pleased that it is mainly completed. I am leaving the drive for a while can’t face that just yet.

We then decided to venture out to Waitrose. People were queuing half way round the car park but it was sunny and not too cold. There was a chap that was wearing cotton shorts and bare feet, not sure what was happening there. His feet must have got cold at one stage, as he had to sit down on a fence. Strange. 14 people in front of us I guess we queued for 30-40 minutes. 1 in 1 out policy. Probably 14 or so in the shop. Lots of food, available. We only bought a few things, no alcohol, cleaning products or anything expensive and the bill was jaw dropping. I am still thinking it must have been a mistake.

The update news is not good. After the drop in infection rates and death rates on Monday the number of deaths doubled yesterday and 381 people succumbed to the virus. We are told it was mainly the old and those with an underlying illness that died. Not a lot of comfort if you are in those categories, actually no comfort at all.
The message is still stay at home and abide by the rules.

Sweden has not locked down and life is continuing as normal there.  There is a lot of concern about testing in the UK, not sure if this is the press latching onto it but it does appear that for whatever reason not enough testing is being done. They do realise that testing is the key to getting this under control but I think that they have not ordered enough kits. Various stories fly around and its getting hard to believe what you read.

A lot of exercise over the past 2 days and my muscles are feeling it.

Dinner consisted Beef ragu (made with the left overs from the sticky short ribs) with Pappardelle. Followed by the remains of the Panatone pudding.

Stay safe everyone.

Have to limit my reading of your diary as it always makes me so hungry! 😊
